In a brilliant show of creativity and wine geekiness, my friend Pam and her husband recently threw an Anti-Nouveau Beaujolais party. Timed to coincide with the arrival of the new Beaujolais Nouveau - on freaking Harleys, no less - our little get-together was less about peeing on the Nouveau parade (there are some great small-producer Nouveaus out there) and more about appreciating the "real" wines the region has to offer. I'm a sucker for a party with a theme and, more specifically, instructions. In this case, each guest was asked to bring an interesting, even "funky" bottle from a year that need not be this one. While we didn't get through all ten crus, there were several Morgons on the table, some Brouilly, some Fleurie and a Moulin-à-Vent. And with the pert Jenny from Jenny & François in attendance, I was able to geek out with the best of them.
